Hero Electric Announces Second Manufacturing Unit In Ludhiana

Hero Electric has announced a second manufacturing plant in Ludhiana, Punjab. The upcoming state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is adjacent to its existing facility and is targeted at ramping up production capacity. Hero Electric is India’s largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer and has been manufacturing electric two-wheelers for over 14 years. The manufacturing plant is spread over an area of ​​10 acres and will have an annual production capacity of 2,00,000 vehicles. The announcement of a new facility comes months after the company announced raising its annual production capacity to 1 million units in the next three years.

Naveen Munjal – Managing Director, Hero Electric, says the second manufacturing plant will increase the production capacity of the company to 1 million units by 2025.

Sohinder Gill, CEO, Hero Electric, says the new plant will be operational in seven months.

Sohinder Gill, CEO of Hero Electric said, “Looking at the opportunity and the long waiting list of customers, we have decided to accelerate the construction of a 200,000 unit capacity plant at Ludhiana. This plant would be functional in a record time of 7 months. Using prefab hybrid modular techniques with a focus on green building and sustainability using natural lighting, allowing cross ventilation whilst blocking the heat. plant layout and the material flow have been designed in collaboration with a Japanese firm to implement some of the modern manufacturing and quality processes and ensuring minimum effluents and waste.”

The plant will be a hub for building new battery design and development and futuristic products, Hero Electric said in a statement. The plant will be a focal point for IOTA, connected vehicles, R&D, and the launch of new features, etc, the company statement added. The second plant at Ludhiana will also bolster R&D and HR mechanisms for skill building and talent acquisition through integrated and unique recruitment plans. Hero Electric has recently inaugurated dealerships in Uttar Pradesh and Kerala and has rolled out the first batch of electric scooters from Mahindra’s Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh.
