Tour Firms To Share Trip Details With Tourism Dept | Pune News

PUNE: Travel companies conducting tours within the state and outside will have to upload details of their trips and travelers on the tourism department website.
These details will be shared with district disaster management teams, said state tourism department officials on Tuesday.
with the administration facing a tough time tracking Amarnath tour operators and tourists, and also several monsoon trips being planned by tour operators, disaster management officials said that it was essential that details are shared with them and the tourism department.
Supriya Karmakar, deputy director, state tourism department, told TOI that it would soon be made mandatory for tour operators to share details of their trips with the tourism department.
“We are currently in the process of registering all tour operators online on, where they can share details of their trips and travelers,” she said. The state tourism department has also started registering adventure tourism operators under the Adventure Tourism Policy announced in August 2021.
Other online platforms that help facilitate trips will also be asked to register with details, she added.
District disaster management department has been seeking details for various trips. The recently Amarnath yatra conducted by two travel companies had not shared details with either the tourism department or with district administration. A policy on the same will be proposed and it may be cleared by the cabinet, she said.
State disaster management officials said that a few years back it was made compulsory to share details but because there was no system, it only remained on paper.
“In case of any eventuality, the administration should have the details. Like other states such as Kerala, Karnataka, there should be a system in place where any kind of tourist activity should be known to the officials”, said the officer.
Tour operators feel that the online system of registration will make it easy for them too. Veena Nimbalkar from My Travel World who has been organizing trips within the state and outside for more than a decade said that it would be better to register while arranging trips. “There is a need to register as it will help all operators and if the process is simple it will be carried out by more operators,” she said.
