Lineage Logistics is expanding in Grantsville

Grantsville — The Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (Go Utah) awarded Lineage Logistics Holdings, LLC a temporary, marginal tax reduction for its expansion in rural Utah. The post-performance corporate incentive is part of the Legislature’s Economic Development Tax Increment Financing (EDTIF) program.

Lineage plans to bring up to 96 new high-paying jobs and invest $125 million in rural Utah during the next five years.

“Lineage Logistics Holdings is a great new addition in Grantsville. The company is a premier leader in temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics, playing a role in much of the food we eat every day,” said Dan Hemmert, the Office of Economic Opportunity’s executive director. “Along with being a key component to the food supply chain, the company has also demonstrated its charitable efforts. For example, during the Covid pandemic, Lineage donated 115 million meals to people in need. The company is also committed to energy efficiency and expanding its use of solar power in its facilities.”

Lineage is the world’s largest warehousing and logistics company providing a broad range of third-party solutions for its customers in various industries. Since 2012, Lineage has grown into the world’s leading and most innovative temperature-controlled logistics company. Lineage employs over 23,000 workers across more than 400 facilities in 20 countries, totaling over two billion cubic feet of capacity to support customers ranging from Fortune 500 companies to growing regional food producers.

“We look forward to expanding our presence in Utah to offer customers in the region greater capacity and logistics solutions,” says Brian McGowan, chief network optimization officer for Lineage. “The City of Grantsville has been a great partner in the project’s development, and we look forward to offering high-quality jobs to the city’s skilled residents.”

Lineage may receive up to 25% of the additional state taxes it will pay over the five-year life of the agreement in the form of a Utah Legislature-authorized Rural Economic Development Tax Increment Financing (REDTIF) tax credit (UCA 63N-2- 106(2)). Each year that Lineage meets the criteria in its contract with the state, it will qualify for a portion of the total tax credit.

“Utah is a strategic choice to help Lineage Logistics reach western US customers, reinforcing our position as the crossroads of the west,” says Theresa A. Foxley, president and CEO of EDCUtah. “We welcome Lineage Logistics’ expansion to a shoulder county of the Wasatch Front, with high capital investment and a job count that allows for paced and steady growth.”
