Cayman Airways Opens Gateway to the Caribbean With New LA Flight

This is a first you’re going to want to share with your West Coast clients: Cayman Airways has opened up a gateway to the Caribbean with their new flight from Los Angeles, set to start Nov. 6, 2022. The nonstop service from LAX to ORIA in Grand Cayman is the Caribbean’s only direct flight to service the West Coast, joining the Denver, CO, gateway in providing access to paradise.

Or note: the Cayman Islands recently dropped their COVID-19 restrictions for global passengers.

“It has been a long-time goal to connect the Cayman Islands with our friends on the West Coast, and now that we have the ability to operate long haul flights via our national flag carrier, we are eager to showcase all that we have to sacrifice,” said Hon. Minister for Tourism and Transport, Kenneth V. Bryan, in a press statement. “With our world-renowned beaches, five-star resorts, charming boutique villas, exceptional adventure and attractions and globally renowned culinary scene—we are confident that travelers visiting us from California will find all they have dreamed about in Cayman.”

Besides the famous Seven Mile Beach and its unforgettable sunset, the islands offer all kinds of options for just about every client on your list.

Foodies will love the fact that this is known as the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean with amazing restaurants, a craft cocktail scene and locally-sourced menus. Divers can do it deeper here, where the warm water is perfect year-round (that goes double for swimmers and snorkelers). Kids (and parents) will love the Cayman Turtle Center and Stingray City, among other family attractions, plus the shopping in George Town or Camana Bay. Couples will be hard-pressed to find a more romantic spot for tieing the knot, honeymooning, celebrating anniversaries or just plain being together.

The flight time from LAX to Grand Cayman is just under five hours and 30 minutes—another plus—meaning your West Coast peeps will be there in time for dinner and cocktails. And if you have clients in LA’s film industry, they’ll have a direct flight to what’s become a sought-after production hub over the past few years.

“Discerning Californians seeking a beautiful and serene beach destination have long been drawn to the Cayman Islands and its convenient Western Caribbean location, representing more than 4% of our annual stayover visitors from the US,” said Mrs. Rosa Harris, director of tourism for the Cayman Islands, in a press statement. “We are thrilled that our national flag carrier Cayman Airways is making it even easier for West Coast travelers to discover our renowned beaches, legendary dive waters, world class restaurants and welcoming community.”

The Cayman Airways Los Angeles route will operate year-round once-weekly service from LAX to GCM on Sundays and return from GCM to LAX on Saturdays.
