Parade of Homes showcases “dream homes”


Ever driven by a stunning home’s exterior, and wondered what the inside looked like? Well, with the Home Builders Association of Midland Fall 2022 Parade of Homes, you can get a peek inside your ‘dream home.’ The event takes place on two weekends, Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 1-2 and 8-9 from 1 to 5 pm

Home Builders Association of Midland Executive Officer Katie Abbate says the non-profit trade organization is made up of nearly 200 members, dedicated to residential construction and remodeling in the county. According to Abbate, the bi-annual Parade of Homes event has been going on for over 50 years.

Held both in the spring and fall, the parade invites residents to see one-of-a-kind craftsmanship, new interior and exterior trends, and cutting-edge designs, Abbate says, “The mission and goal of The Parade of Homes is to give those in the market for a new home, looking for inspiration for an upcoming remodel, or just wanting to check out the new home designs and builders’ craftsmanship in our area a chance to experience what our members have to offer. “

Attendees can view nine separate homes, as part of the tour, as indicated on this folder. Participants can use a physical or digital magazine to view the homes, providing details on the builders and specifics. “It is a self-guided tour, but there will be a representative at the homes for questions and information,” Abbate says.

Included homes range from condos to ranch style, and 1.5-2 story-homes, featuring builds and designs by Cobblestone Homes, Stephen Flora Homes, Greystone Homes, Lifestyle Home Builders & Design, and Pistro Builders.

Abbate says that one of the best parts of the event is the rapport that’s created with future clients. “How often do people get the chance to experience a home before making that leap into building or buying a brand new home? It is exciting, inspiring, and a full sensory experience – one of the main reasons I love this event,” she says.

Typically, the free, all-ages event draws around 400 people, according to Abbate. It is sponsored by Horizon Bank, Mercantile Bank, and Dow Credit Union. Due to the pandemic, previous years’ events were a bit different, offering a drive-by experience in-person and virtually. Magazines are available at various locations, including Horizon Bank, Huntington Bank, and the Dow Credit Union.
